HAÏTI: Iron Bars !

We join in the joy of our Sisters of “Institut Montfort”, Daughters of Wisdom of Haiti, as they share an update on the progress made in the reconstruction of the buildings and on the Christmas celebrations at the Institute for the hearing impaired children.

The construction of the building is in full swing.  The cafeteria is moving fast; the iron bars are planted ... What a foundation!  Large chains are used according to the anti-earthquake principles. The classes being built by World Vision are also progressing rapidly since they have a six- month contract. They keep working even late at night.  These projects raise our expectations higher every day and we feel like shouting "YES, the Lord is good and great". It is also our spontaneous daily prayer for all our friends and benefactors who have been walking side by side with us since the earthquake. In a few days it will be the second anniversary of that terrible tragedy. Yes, Montfort’s Divine Providence was deeply felt among us. Thanks to everyone.

On Friday, December 9th we reopened our bookbinding workshop in the presence of the Manager of Libraries without Borders. He gave us machines and working equipment to replace those that had disappeared in the disaster.

Christmas was the long-awaited celebration for everybody. There was a distribution of sneakers for the older boys. Thanks, once again, to all our friends who, every year, contribute to bring joy to our hearing-impaired children. The next day, it was the turn of the school staff. Annually, the Classic Center St. Louis Marie de Montfort joins us as well for the party. As every year, a draw of two turkeys makes everyone exuberant with joy. The day was very exciting and it was an opportunity to pray together and to revive the true meaning of Christmas. 

The majority of our interns have returned to their families. Only ten of them stayed behind and the teachers take turns to care for them until school reopens early January.

Also, I bought four young heifers to renovate our de Santo Farm. Funny enough, for the last few years all our new births have been bulls ...Already, we thank our friend, Mr. Raymond Barré from France, who will spend several weeks with us and take care of our young animals and also train our employees.
