Back in Haiti in October 2011 for the second consecutive year, I had the pleasure of working with 6 Daughters of Wisdom from 3 different entities: 4 Sisters from Haiti, one from Colombia and one from Maria Luisa (Equator, Peru, Argentina) in the person of a Peruvian Sister working in Equator. The purpose of the session was to learn how to acquire funds from international organizations, in order that the works of the Congregation or those where we dwell, may survive. Before their arrival, three of the participants had been chosen by their Provincial Councils to become the resource-person for their province when time comes to prepare draft applications for funding.

At the beginning of the session, each one learned to identify a need close to her entity, then to chose an organization that could best answer the need that was identified, and finally, to draft a convincing project that would touch the heart of a donor.
The 6 participants were motivated; they really wanted to help others around them, those who need to pull through in order to have basic living conditions. During the week-end, many chose to continue to work at their project, as I was available to help them if need be. A good ten projects were drafted and two of them were even sent before the end of the session: one was to ask for 40 computers for a school and the other, supplies needed to open a nursery.
What a wonderful way of living internationality! The Daughters of Wisdom returning to their community have been enriched by this beautiful experience lived in the midst of a nation trying to recover from the January 12, 2010 earthquake. Many thanks are addressed to Sr. Marie-Edwidge, Provincial, and to the Sisters of the community of the Provincial House of Pétion-Ville who welcomed us with open hearts. I have excellent memories of this second stay with you.
