The Daughters of Wisdom in Holland

Published November 2010

Claire Dumont, DW

The Daughters of Wisdom of Holland have put into writing their love story, their holy story, in a book covered with the grey cloth of the former habit of the Daughters of Wisdom. Touching! Their story is integrated into the Story of the Congregation itself and is part of it. We can read about the foundation in 1881, the growth, the expansion, the activities, the spiritual path travelled by Sr. Ancilla with the Titus Brandsma Institute, the period where decisions were taken and then, the life of the Sisters today.

It is striking that this story is told by the Daughters of Wisdom of today. This fact gives life and originality to the text.

Photos of the places and of the activities of yesterday complete the text. I was touched by the photo of each of the 42 Daughters of Wisdom still alive in 2010.

The author is Mrs. Neel van den Oever who has worked in close collaboration with Sr. Paula-Maria Hermans and her Sisters.

This beautiful book was published in May 2010. For the occasion, at Wijchen, there was an exposition that Sr. Paula called Time for Slippers.

In June, Sr. Paula-Maria and Mrs. Neel van den Oever went to St Laurent-sur-Sèvre where the three General Councils of the Montfort family were meeting.  They presented the Love Story of the Daughters of Wisdom in Holland and gave the books to La Sagesse. Imagine the emotion of the moment.

Congratulations to Mrs. van den Oever, to Sr. Paula-Maria and to each Daughter of Wisdom living in Holland.  It will be a joy to read you in French one day.

Thank you Daughters of Wisdom of Holland for the gift to the Congregation and thank you for the many precious gifts that you have generously shared with the Daughters of Wisdom of the world.
