Between the feasts of Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort (April 28 ) and of Blessed Marie-Louise Trichet (May 7 ), Jean-Paul II was proclaimed blessed ! That was on May 1, 2011.
Providence smiles upon us!
In fact, the welcoming of John Paul II among the Blessed is a very happy event for the Montfortian family. We rejoice as family because of the bonds that unite us...
John Paul II acknowledged a “Master” in Louis-Marie de Montfort, through the quality of his teaching and the originality of the spiritual way he proposed. It is universally known that his Episcopal and Papal motto was inspired by the “Totus Tuus”* of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort. Deeply touched specifically by the “Treaty of the True Devotion”, he declared that the teachings of Montfort had deeply influenced his entire life. On June 21, 1997, the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Canonization of the Saint, John Paul II wrote: “Montfort remains an incomparable cantor and disciple of the Mother of the Savior, in whom he celebrated the one who leads us surely to Christ. [...] I encourage you”, he said, “to render fruitful this treasure that should not be kept hidden. The teachings of your founder and master mark the way to true Wisdom, a way that should be opened to many young people in search of an art of living and of meaning in their lives”.
At the Beatification of Marie-Louise Trichet, on May 16, 1993, the Daughters of Wisdom benefited from these special ties with John Paul II. With what emotions we heard these words on that day when our hearts were beating in unison! “The impetus given by Blessed Marie-Louise of Jesus is still alive”, he said, “for she set herself to listen attentively to the words of Eternal Wisdom [...] from now on, you have an attentive and faithful companion. Like Mother Marie-Louise Trichet, give to the Virgin Mary the place that she deserves in your life. May God bless you and keep you!” (extract from the response of the Holy Father at the request of the beatification by Mgr. Garnier, then bishop of Luçon, today bishop of Cambrai).
Now, the Montfortian Congregations know that they have Blessed John Paul II, one more protector among others. They are deeply thankful for the encouragement given by the warm and admiring witnessing of John Paul II to their founders. With him, they pray Eternal and Incarnate Wisdom to help them remain faithful to the Heritage they hold in their hands. Thus, may they let Wisdom reveal Herself to their contemporaries!
Blessed Jean-Paul II pray for us!
