Wisdom renews our daily lives by transforming how we perceive, choose, and respond to ordinary situations. It refreshes the heart, mind, and spirit, allowing grace to permeate our everyday existence. Wisdom grants us new understanding, enhances our decision-making, and teaches us to choose the paths that lead to peace, goodness, and growth. What once seemed difficult becomes clear when guided by this light.
As the core value of the Daughters of Wisdom, this must be our constant desire and daily hope: to be women filled with wisdom, kindness, and grace. Through our words, actions, and guidance, we should touch and continue to inspire those around us. In Love of Eternal Wisdom (no. 58), St. Louis Marie de Montfort writes:
“Whoever wants to have a really extraordinary knowledge of the workings of grace and nature… a knowledge holy and deep that goes beyond the abstract and the superficial… such a one should make every effort to acquire Wisdom. For without her no one, no matter how learned he might appear, is of any account before God.”
A Daughter of Wisdom who has truly grasped the teachings of our Founder leaves deep, positive marks on the people she serves. These marks create grateful hearts that rejoice in daily life. According to St. Louis-Marie de Montfort, true wisdom is not merely human intelligence; it is a divine gift that renews the soul and draws us closer to Christ. Through wisdom, daily life becomes a path of holiness—not only for the individual but for all those they serve.

This was the profound experience of Sr. Odilia Wonondo on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, when the former First Lady of the Republic of Malawi, Madame Professor Gertrude Mutharika—a former student of St. Mary’s Secondary School—requested a private visit to see her. The wisdom Sr. Odilia shared years ago remained a deep mark in Madame Mutharika’s life, leading her back to her roots to visit her mentor.
Wisdom is communicated to the soul not by the light of reason alone, but by the light of faith. This is why Madame Mutharika describes Sr. Odilia as a “pillar of mentorship” and praises her enduring guidance. It was by the power of wisdom that the former First Lady set aside her title and status to visit her old teacher at Our Lady of Wisdom.
Sr. Odilia felt extremely humbled and unworthy of the visit. “I never imagined that my former student could remember to visit me,” she remarked, echoing the words of Elizabeth in Luke 1:43, “How can the First Lady visit me!”

On social media, many describe Sr. Odilia as a remarkable woman whose life is a blessing to many. As a teacher by profession, she does more than educate minds; she shapes futures, builds confidence, and plants seeds of hope. Her dedication, patience, and passion for teaching have made a lasting difference in the lives of countless young girls. Beyond the classroom, she remains a source of strength to her family, friends, and the community.
Her life is a testimony that true greatness is found in serving others. Thank you, Sr. Odilia, for being a light, a mentor, and a blessing. May God continue to bless you with strength, joy, and favor as you keep transforming lives.
